The World Council of the Cedars Revolution is gravely concerned about the safety of the civil society of
These armed terrorist organizations are holding the Lebanese civil society to ransom and are rendering the Lebanese people vulnerable to attacks and assassinations such as the likes of former Prime Minister Raffik Hariri and his companions, Journalists Gebran Tueini and Samir Kassir, Politician George Hawi as well as the attempted assassinations of Minister Marwan Hamadi and LBC news reader May Chidiac, and the latest provoked the war on Lebanon of July 12th, 2006.
The tensions are escalating daily since the cease fire after UNSCR 1701 and they are generating more and more fear in the Lebanese people who have had more than their fare share of assassinations, destruction and devastation. No other people on the face of the earth have had to endure so much pain and suffering at the hands of terrorists.
Dear President, for the United Nations Security Council to deploy 15,000 military personnel along the Lebanese/ Israeli border and Lebanese/Syrian border as per UNSCR 1701, without the powers of Chapter 7, is creating the potential of genocide at the hands of terrorists who have absolutely no respect for life, for the rest of the people of Lebanon, for the government of Lebanon or for the authority of the United Nations Security Council; and they are being re-armed by the Syrians and Iranians as we speak. The Lebanese government in coordination/support of the Arab States under estimated the conflict when it asked UNSC for a new resolution short of full power.
As such, we call on the United Nations Security Council to issue a new resolution empowering the 15,000 members of the international force with the full strength and capabilities of Chapter 7, thereby enabling the Lebanese army in conjunction with and under the direction of the international force to disarm all terrorist organizations including Hezbollah.
Further, we call on the United Nations Security Council to publicly declare to the people of
We cannot waste the opportunity again, to eradicate the majority of possible atrocities on Lebanese soil. We can go a long way to achieving our objectives by invoking Chapter 7 and disarming all terrorist militias. For

The World Council of the Cedars Revolution is very concerned at the development of recent events which by all accounts appear to be heading towards an acute case of restlessness by Hezbollah and their political and military personnel.
In particular, we draw your attention to the recent remarks made by Hezbollah MP Ali Ammar whereby he virtually accused the political coalition in government of having effectively betrayed their country. He accuses them (the anti Syrian Coalition) of having sided with the enemy. These are very dangerous accusations. They could be heavily loaded for preparations for reprisals against the people of
We further draw your attention to the remarks of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, in his attack on the presence of British Prime Minister Tony Blair as your guest in
Perhaps we ought to remind Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah that it was he and not Tony Blair who started the war. It was he who dragged Lebanon into a totally destructive war, killing thousands of innocent Lebanese and destroying most of the infrastructure of the nation without the government’s or the people’s knowledge of his maniacal inclinations for suicide.
The world Council for the Cedars Revolution strongly advocates that you Mr Prime Minister should be very frank and open with the people of
Hezbollah has imposed itself upon the government and people of
The national defense forces must take control of the whole Lebanese territories. Any other group having a military capability on Lebanese soil, without the Lebanese government’s specific approval must be declared as a hostile terrorist organization, which must be destroyed. By necessity, this calls for the closure of all the joint operation rooms between Hezbollah and the Lebanese army which have been covering co-ordinations on all fronts including the borders, the airport, the ports etc.

"........إن قيام رئيس الوزراء اللبناني باستدعاء سفير الفاتيكان سابقة خطيرة خاصة في زمن يصادر فيه أصوليون من فئة معينة القرارات المصيرية......."
تعليقا على الضجة التي تثيرها بعض وسائل الإعلام في شأن المحاضرة التي ألقاها قداسة البابا بنديكتوس السادس عشر الثلاثاء الماضي في جامعة ريجينسبورغ بألمانيا والتي تطرق فيها إلى موضوع حوار الأديان وخص الدين الإسلامي الكريم بهذه الدعوة ذاكرا ما جاء على لسان الإمبراطور البيزنطي مانويل الثاني باليولوجوس من القرن الرابع عشر حول علاقة الدين والسيف، نحب توضيح الأمور التالية:
- أولا: إن رأس الكنيسة الكاثوليكية في العالم ليس بحاجة لأن يهاجم الدين الإسلامي أو يقلل من احترامه للأديان، كون الكنيسة الكاثوليكية شديدة الحرص على الحوار المنفتح بين الأديان وتقريب وجهات نظرها، ولا يمكن من يدعو للحوار أن يهاجم محاوريه.
- ثانيا: إن الكلام المعتبر مسيئا للإسلام موجود في كتب التاريخ وموثق منذ زمن الإمبراطور المذكور وقبله ولم يفعل البابا إلا ذكره للإشارة إلى التطرف الذي يحاول بعض الأصوليين المسلمين صبغ الدين الإسلامي به وهم لا يريدون الخير للإسلام ولا يرغبون بتعايشه مع بقية الأديان وإنما يدفعون الناس إلى التفتيش عن تفسير لحالة الحقد والتعصب والانغلاق التي يجرون المسلمين إليها.
- ثالثا: إن محاضرة البابا ضمت إشارات مختلفة لأفكار وعقائد من شتى الأديان ولم تقتصر على الإشارة إلى الدين الإسلامي، ومع ذلك يحب المغرضون التركيز على وجه واحد مما ذكر لإظهار الإسلام ربما، بالمظهر الإرهابي الذي يحبون الاحتماء خلفه لا بمظهر الدين السماوي المنفتح على الفكر والحوار.
- رابعا: إن مزايدة المسلمين المعتدلين في موضوع كهذا، وعلى رأسهم بعض الأنظمة العربية التي نكن لها الاحترام، على الأصوليين خوفا من الشارع ومحاولة لكسب الرأي العام الإسلامي، هو أمر يدعو إلى عدم الثقة بهؤلاء وبقدرتهم على مجابهة المتطرفين، ويزيد بوصم الإسلام كدين بالعزلة والانغلاق وعدم القدرة على التحاور والتواصل مع الأديان الأخرى والأفكار التي تتشارك في هذا العالم، ويجب أن يعلم الكل بأن عالم اليوم لا يضم فقط الأديان التي نسميها أديانا سماوية بل هناك الكثير من الأديان الأخرى والمعتقدات المختلفة، فالمليار مسلم محاطون بمليارين من البوذيين والهندوس وغيرهم من الديانات التي لا يعترف فيها الإسلام، فهل يقبل المسلمون المعتدلون، الذين يعيشون في عالم اليوم، وبعد خمسة عشر قرنا على انطلاق الدعوة، بهدم كل ما هو غير مسلم، كما فعل جماعة طالبان بتمثال بوذا في أفغانستان؟
- خامسا: إن قيام رئيس الوزراء اللبناني باستدعاء سفير الفاتيكان للاعتراض على ما جاء في محاضرة البابا، قبل دراستها بعمق وتأني، هو إشارة مهمة وسابقة في تاريخ لبنان الحديث الذي يضم طوائف وديانات مختلفة ليست كلها على رأي واحد، ما يجعل البعض يعيد النظر في مسألة الوطن الواحد الذي عليه أن يحمي فيما يحمي حقوق الناس في الإيمان والمعتقد، فهل يجب أن تعاد الحسابات، خاصة في زمن يصادر فيه أصوليون من فئة معينة القرارات المصيرية، وها هو رأس الهرم في السلطة التنفيذية يسارع لاسترضاء غرائز شارع دون أخذ مشاعر الشارع الآخر بعين الاعتبار؟
- سادسا: إن على العالم الإسلامي أن يعي بأن إبن رشد كان مسلما أيضا، وقد خالف بآرائه الفلسفية ونظرته إلى الدين علماء عصره وعلى رأسهم الغزالي، وكانت المجابهة يومها، كما هي اليوم، بين التزمت والانفتاح، فهل ندعوه للاعتذار؟ أم أن فكر المسلمين، لا سمح الله، قد توقف عن الإبداع عند إبن لادن وصاحبه الظواهري وصار كل من لا يفكر كما يفكر هؤلاء يجب أن يصمت أو يقتل؟
- سابعا: إننا كاتحاد ماروني عالمي بما لنا من خبرة في تفاعل الأديان وتمازج الحضارات نعتبر أن الدين الإسلامي أكبر من أن يسجن في سيف أو قنبلة، وأشرف من أن تلصق به شعارات الترهيب والتخوين، وأوسع من أن يسجن العقل في دائرة المفسرين ومحدودية الشراح، وأهم من أن يجرحه رأي أو كاريكاتور. إننا ندعو المثقفين من المسلمين المنفتحين على العالم والعقل أن يقدموا، كما الرشيد وأبنائه، على حث المفكرين المسلمين وغير المسلمين، على الإبداع في اتجاه رفعة الإسلام وانفتاحه، لا على التشبث بمحدودية النصوص وتفسيراتها والدوران في حلقة مفرغة. إن الله عز وجل قد أعطى العالم الإسلامي اليوم إمكانيات كبيرة عليه أن يستعملها في بناء أصرحة الحضارة ومشاركة الجميع في التعرف إلى مشاريعه في البشرية التي تسير نحوه في تقدمها يوما بعد يوم، لا تلك العائدة إلى غياهب التاريخ وظلمات العنف والحقد والقتل.
- ثامنا: إننا إذ نشكر قداسة البابا على محاولة تحريك الفكر البشري ليتفاعل مع الواقع ولا يرضى بالخنوع والانتظار ونحترم التفسيرات والبيانات التي صدرت وتصدر عن الكرسي الرسولي في هذا الشأن أو غيره، لا يسعنا إلا أن نقدر آراء بعض المفكرين المسلمين ومن بينهم رجال دين أئمة وعلماء تحلوا بالموضوعية وتعمقوا في الشرح من وجهة نظر منفتحة تساهم في تقدم البشرية نحو الحوار وتفاعل الأفكار والقيم والمعتقدات التي تشكل الأديان أعمدتها وأساساتها والتي لن تقدر الكتب ولا العقول على احتوائها لأن الله، بالتأكيد، أكبر...
